چکیده

This paper describes an approach of how to estimate the vehicle velocity using additional sensors provided by the brake-by-wire actuators. The advantage of brake-by-wire actuators such as the electro-hydraulic (EHB) and the electro-mechanical brake (EMB) is that the caliper pressure or the clamping force, respectively, are known. Wheel speed, vehicle acceleration, and caliper pressure or clamping force, respectively, are used to estimate the vehicle velocity using a fuzzy approach. Besides, the mass of the vehicle and the slope of the road are derived from the sensors provided. Finally, it will be shown by measurement results that the velocity of a research vehicle equipped with brake-by-wire actuators and a new ABS approach can be estimated very precisely even at very high wheel slips and different road conditions. Unified Control of Brake- and Steer-by-Wire Systems Using Optimal Control Allocation Methods

A new optimal control strategy for dealing with braking actuator failures in a vehicle equipped with a brake-bywire and steer-bywire system is described. The main objective of the control algorithm during the failure mode is to redistribute the control tasks to the functioning actuators, so that the vehicle performance remains as close as possible to the desired performance in spite of a failur...

Wheel Slip Control Using Gain-scheduled Lq - Lpv/lmi Analysis and Experimental Results

A wheel slip controller for Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) is designed using LQ-optimal control. The controller gain matrices are gain scheduled on the vehicle speed. A parameter dependent Lyapunov function for the nominal linear parameter varying (LPV) closed loop system is found by solving a linear matrix inequality (LMI) problem. This Lyapunov function is used to investigate robustness with r...

Gain-scheduled wheel slip control in automotive brake systems

A wheel slip controller is developed and experimentally tested in a car equipped with electromechanical brake actuators and a brake-by-wire ABS system. A gain scheduling approach is taken, where the vehicle speed is viewed as a slowly time-varying parameter and the model is linearized about the nominal wheel slip. Gain matrices for the different operating conditions are designed using an LQR ap...

Hydraulic anti-lock, anti-skid braking system using fuzzy controller

To maintain the stability trajectory of vehicles under critical driving conditions, anti lock-anti skid controllers, consisting of four anti-lock sub-controllers for each wheel and two anti-skid sub-controllers for left and right pair wheels have been separately designed. Wheel and body systems have been simulated with seven degrees of freedom to evaluate the proper functioning of controllers. ...

Nonlinear Analysis of a Flexible Beam Actuated by a Couple of Active SMA Wire Actuators

There are two different ways of using SMA wires as actuators for shape control of flexible structures; which can be either embedded within the composite laminate or externally attached to the structure. Since the actuator can be placed at different offset distances from the beam, external actuators produce more bending moment and, consequently, considerable shape changes with the same magnitude...
